About Les ArcsThe ski resort of Les Arcs is actually made up of several villages - Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 and it is also connected with the town of Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Les Arcs is part of the Paradiski ski area with over 425 kilometres of beautifully groomed pistes.
Les Arcs 1950 has been built in a traditional Alpine style, while the other levels are built in a modern style that might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Les Arcs 1600 was the original ski resort and it was built with ‘ski in ski out’ in mind. There are some lovely tree runs around here and the views towards the valley and Mont Blanc are truly stunning.
Les Arcs 1800 is the biggest village and has many shops and restaurants to keep you busy after skiing. The Vanoise Express cable car also runs from here over to La Plagne since 2003. Les Arcs 1800 is a great choice for beginner skiers as it has many wide green and blue pistes and easy runs back to the centre.
Les Arcs 1950 is the newest resort and it was built by a Canadian developer. The architecture of the resort took inspiration from the typical chalet style of Alpine villages and it is rather attractive compared with other purpose-built resorts.
Les Arcs 2000 is the highest resort and due to its altitude it has an excellent snow record. However if the weather gets bad then there is nowhere to hide as it is above the tree line.
