Chania International Airport (CHQ) was named after Ioannis Daskalogiannis, a famous fighter against Ottoman rule from Crete. Chania airport is 15 kms away from the town of Chania on the Akrotiri peninsula in the north-west part of Crete. For many Cretean resorts you have a shorter transfer time if you fly directly to Chania airport. It’s not as busy as Heraklion airport but it receives many internal flights from Athens and Thessaloniki as well as international arrivals. Chania airport is the second busiest airport on Crete. It offers the usual amenities you would expect to find at an international airport, like currency exchange, free wifi, duty free shops etc.
Chania airport has a regular bus service to Chania and to Rethymnon run by KTEL Chania and Rethymnou SA. You will find the bus stop between the Arrivals and Departures buildings.
