From December till February the temperature rarely goes above 10°C. Harsh winds and frequent snowfall can make the winter feel even colder. Heavy snow falls in the mountains and Lyon lies close to numerous fantastic ski resorts such as Serre Chevalier and les Deux Alpes. During spring sunny days and pleasant temperatures return, together with a bit more rainfall. The average high temperature rises from a chilly 13°C in March, to a mild 16°C in April, to a warm 20°C in May.
